Create a new team

  • Open Settings → Teams and click “New Team” to start with a blank slate; provide a name, owner, and optional description so teammates know the charter.
  • Choose whether the team is public (visible to all) or private (requires invites) and enable notifications so members immediately receive updates.
  • Add default members, reporting lines, and onboarding checklists that mirror how the team will actually work together from day one.
  • The Recommended Teams panel surfaces suggested groupings based on existing department tags, ongoing projects, and historical team structures.
  • Select a recommended team, review its purpose, and clone it to preserve predefined goals, preferences, and integrations.
  • Adjust the recommendation by toggling members, linking Slack channels, or switching the default review cadence before saving.

Structure & naming

  • Use consistent prefixes (e.g., “ENG-”, “HR-”) so people can quickly identify team scopes across dashboards.
  • Align the team’s reporting hierarchy so goals, reviews, and incident assignments roll up to the correct leader.
  • Tag teams with focus areas (product, customer success, enablement) to power filters and notifications.

Keep teams engaged

  • Link the team to Slack/Teams channels and recurring meetings so conversations surface inside Sizemotion at the right tempo.
  • Monitor recommended cadence reminders to ensure teams complete check-ins, reviews, and mentoring activities.
  • Archive or pause teams when initiatives end to keep the directory tidy and surface active groups to new hires.
