Overview
The Slack integration keeps teams in sync by delivering Sizemotion reminders, alerts, and quick actions directly inside the channels you already use. Admins configure the workspace in the Integrations Hub (/integration/manage) and map teams to channels.
Notifications & commands
Slack delivers:
- Review reminders: Automated notifications for upcoming reviews, 1:1s, and feedback campaigns.
- Slash commands: Run
/sizemotionto look up goals, remind someone, or launch shortcuts. - Incident alerts: Push critical updates from availability, scheduling, or response workflows into designated channels.
Setup
- Visit the Integrations Hub: Go to /integration/manage and click Slack to start the flow.
- Authorize Sizemotion: Authenticate with Slack and grant Sizemotion permissions for channels, messages, and commands.
- Choose notification flavors: Pick which events (reviews, 1:1s, feedback, reminders) post to Slack.
- Test the workspace: Use the provided test command to ensure the slash command and notifications appear in the right channel.
Channel sync
Link Sizemotion teams to Slack channels to surface the right context:
- Team mapping: Map Sizemotion teams to Slack channels to receive targeted reminders.
- Preference center: Teams can enable or mute notifications per channel.
- Incident channels: Route alerts for on-call shifts or incident surges to dedicated channels for faster response.
Security
- Only account admins can connect or modify the Slack workspace.
- OAuth tokens are stored encrypted and rotated automatically when Slack revokes them.
- Audit logs record who connected, reauthorized, or disconnected Slack.
Monitoring & health
- The Integrations Hub uses badges to show whether the workspace is authorized (green), needs attention (amber), or disconnected (gray).
- Link-level errors reveal missing scopes, revoked tokens, or permission denials directly in the hub.
- Command responses provide immediate feedback when a command fails due to missing permissions.
Troubleshooting
- Slash command not working: Reinstall Sizemotion into Slack or refresh the command by editing the Slack app configuration.
- Notifications missing: Ensure the mapped channel is still active and not archived or muted for Sizemotion.
- Permissions error: Review the OAuth scopes granted to Sizemotion and reauthorize if Slack reports missing permissions.
FAQs
Can I limit notifications to certain teams?
Yes—map only the Sizemotion teams you want to each channel, and toggle event types per channel.
What happens when the workspace disconnects?
The integration shows as disabled in the hub. Reconnect by reauthorizing via /integration/manage/slack.
Will slash commands work everywhere?
Slash commands are available anywhere the Sizemotion app is installed. Control visibility by managing the app’s permissions inside Slack.
